Welcome to Flow! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Flow Chrome extension and related services (collectively, the "Service") provided by Flow ("we," "us," or "our"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Flow, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not install or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Flow is a Chrome browser extension designed to help users improve their productivity and focus. The Service includes features such as:

  • A customizable new tab page with time, weather, and focus goals
  • Pomodoro timer for focused work sessions
  • Website blocking during focus sessions
  • Ambient sound playback
  • Task and note management
  • Focus statistics and streak tracking
  • Optional Google Calendar integration
  • AI chat assistant with support for multiple providers (Ollama, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)
  • Tab content reading for AI context (when you choose to pin a tab)
  • Cloud sync across devices (optional)

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

You may use Flow without creating an account. However, to enable cloud sync and access certain features, you may choose to sign in with your Google or GitHub account. By doing so, you authorize us to access the account information as described in our Privacy Policy.

3.2 Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its systems
  • Use the Service to transmit any malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Use the Service to collect or harvest personal information of others
  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Service without our permission

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Our Rights

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Flow and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. The Flow name, logo, and all related names, logos, and designs are trademarks of Flow.

5.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of any content you create or input into the Service (such as focus goals, tasks, and notes). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display this content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third-party services such as Google Calendar, GitHub, and Unsplash. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of these third-party services.

7. Website Blocking Feature

The website blocking feature is provided as a productivity tool to help you focus. By enabling this feature, you acknowledge that:

  • You are choosing to block access to certain websites on your own browser at your own discretion
  • You can disable blocking at any time through the extension settings or by exiting Focus Mode
  • We are not responsible for any inconvenience, lost access, or damages caused by blocked websites
  • The blocking feature may not work on all websites or in all circumstances
  • You are solely responsible for managing which sites are blocked and when

8. AI Chat Feature

Flow includes an optional AI chat assistant that can connect to various AI providers. By using this feature, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are responsible for obtaining and managing your own API keys for cloud AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google)
  • Your API keys are stored locally on your device and Flow does not have access to them
  • When using cloud AI providers, your messages and any pinned tab content are sent directly to those providers
  • Flow is not responsible for how third-party AI providers handle, store, or use your data
  • You are responsible for reviewing and complying with the terms of service of any AI provider you use
  • AI responses are generated by third-party services and Flow makes no guarantees about their accuracy, appropriateness, or reliability
  • You should not share sensitive, confidential, or personal information in AI conversations
  • You are solely responsible for any costs or charges incurred from using third-party AI APIs
  • The AI feature is provided "as is" and may not be available at all times

8.1 Tab Content Reading

When you "pin" a tab to provide context to the AI assistant, the extension reads the text content of that webpage. By using this feature, you acknowledge that:

  • You are choosing to share the content of pinned tabs with your selected AI provider
  • You should only pin tabs containing content you are comfortable sharing with third-party AI services
  • You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any content from pinned tabs
  • Flow is not responsible for any consequences of sharing tab content with AI providers

9. User Responsibilities

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • You use the Service entirely at your own risk
  • You are solely responsible for all content you create, store, or input into the Service
  • You should not rely on Flow as your only productivity or time management solution
  • You are responsible for maintaining backups of any important data
  • You will not store sensitive, confidential, or illegal content in the Service
  • You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Any decisions you make based on data or features in Flow are your sole responsibility
  • We do not guarantee any specific productivity outcomes or results from using the Service

10. No Professional Advice

Flow is a productivity tool only. Nothing in the Service constitutes professional advice of any kind, including but not limited to medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice. If you have concerns about productivity, focus, or attention issues, please consult appropriate professionals.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • The Service will meet your specific requirements or expectations
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • The results from using the Service will be accurate, reliable, or beneficial
  • Any errors in the Service will be corrected
  • Your data will be preserved, backed up, or recoverable
  • The Service will improve your productivity or focus

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL FLOW, ITS CREATORS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:

  • Loss of profits, data, productivity, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your data
  • Damages resulting from blocked websites or focus mode features
  • Loss of data due to sync failures or service interruptions
  • Any other damages arising out of or related to these Terms

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS, OR $10 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Flow and its creators, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another.

14. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service, including any loss of data.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

16. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease and we may delete your data. You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and deleting your account.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Flow operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of that jurisdiction.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Flow regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements between you and Flow relating to the Service.
